My Weekend

Feb 15, Friday
6:00 am EST
Almost ready to leave for office. Just need to do a quick analysis and mail it across.

7:00 am EST
Analysis compete. Mailed across to the core team.

7:30 am EST
On train to work. Jotting all to-dos in order of priority.

8:15 am EST
In office. New mails, new to-dos.

9:00 am EST to 2:00 pm EST
Meetings, deliverables, meetings and meetings again.

2:00 pm EST
Steve pings: "coffeeeeeee???"
I ping back: " yeaaah... lets go"

I meet Steve and Victoria outside the aisles. The snack shop downstairs appears closed. I suddenly remember and sigh,"its the Friday preceding President's Day weekend".

I still need a tea.

Me: "Do you want to walk to CSB?"

Idea doesn't appeal to Victoria, but Steve doesn't desert.

We get tea and coffee. We talk about things at and outside work. He is eagerly waiting for his wedding and the honeymoon cruise.

2:30 pm EST
Back at my desk, churning, churning and churning.
Get two meeting invites - one for 5:00 pm EST to 5:30 pm EST and second for 5:30 pm EST to 6:30 pm EST.

I sigh... and swear.

6:15 pm EST
I manage to scramble out of the last meeting before it got over. Dave worries that I don't have any life outside of work. Ed tries to help by asking me not to undertake the detail P&L build. But Richard politely insists.

9:00 pm EST
Building business case.

11:30 pm EST
Building business case.

Midnight
Building business case.

Feb 16, Saturday
1 am EST
Building business case.

3 am EST
Everything becomes fuzzy, I see excel sheets even on my dinner plate. Put on an alarm for 7 am and crash.

7:30 am EST
Cranking the business case.

12:30 pm EST
Cranking the business case.

2:00 pm EST
Reheated leftovers from last night for lunch.

3:00 pm EST
Cranking the business case.

11:30 pm EST
Cranking the business case. By now, I realize the task needs at least 10 work days, will not even be half done in 3.
Crash.

Feb 17, Sunday
7:30 am EST
Cranking the business case.

5:30 pm EST
I'm tired. Two days of the weekend have gone by. I haven't done my grocery, laundry, haven't even had a good night's sleep. I mail Richard, saying its undoable in 3 days and go eat a really late lunch at 5:30 pm!

7:30 pm EST (the time I started posting on the blog)
I try to de-stress by writing here.

May there be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Amen.
